Homeward

is a theatre project by Tapestry Theatre Collective.

Through arts-based research engaging several diverse communities, Homeward takes a multi-scopic view at what home means to many people, investigating the paradox of nuance and collectivity behind the feeling of “home.”

The

Table

Knows

Our

Names

HFTco Frostbites Festival, March 6-8, 2026

The Table Knows Our Names is the first performance piece created under the Homeward project.

What happens when a group of strangers gather for a dinner party?

Grab a chair in Apartment 3B, where Reid and Nat are hosting their seventh dinner party for their fellow tenants - or, rather, for the only person who shows up every time, silent Kay.

It’s a recipe for disaster - that is until Gene arrives, who returns to 3B for the first time since his grandparent’s passing, sparking a series of memory-scenes among the unlikely clan.

A mishmash menu of stories, games, surprises, and, of course, dinner, The Table Knows Our Names invites you to come to the table and reflect on the places, moments, and meals that make you feel at home.

The Table Knows Our Names is a durational piece that take place throughout the Frostbites evening. Make yourself at home in The Bright Room at any point to witness the work, participate as you wish, and stay as long as you’d like.

Arts Activation
& Window Installation

Helping Hands Street Mission, Fall 2025

We spent three weeks hanging out with the community at Helping Hands, to get to know their experience & associations with the idea of home.
Our work culminated in an Arts Activation, which turned into an installation in their front cafe window, for the communities responses to be reflected back to them & to the outside!
We wrapped our time up with interviews with three community members, who graciously shared their stories & ideas with us, to be carried forward into our project!

“Homeward” Class Series

With the Willow Arts Community, November 2024

What is home? It is a place? A person? A feeling? An idea?

We dove into these questions alongside members of the Willow Arts Community in St. Catharines over four Mondays through collaborative theatre-making! We explored our personal and collective ideas of “home,” through different stylistic approaches of creation, including physical theatre, object theatre, and voice work, capping it off with collective collage-making at our final snack-luck!
